Thank you for your interest in working at the UNESCO Fundy Biosphere Region. We are a learning place for sustainable development, where we work with community partners to test innovative approaches to understanding changes in the Bay of Fundy’s land, freshwater and ocean ecosystems so we can better manage biodiversity.
Our long-term goal is to ensure ecosystems in the region are intact, providing air and water filtration, healthy food, carbon storage, erosion and flood control, and other ecological services, which will allow a diversity of wildlife to thrive.

OPERATIONS MANAGER
About the position
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing projects, fostering partnerships, and supporting operational best practices. The Manager ensures the smooth operation of the organization and builds its capacity, supporting staff in meeting Fundy Biosphere Region’s goals and deliverables across all projects.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee projects, including budgeting, timelines, and resources and support project deliverables where needed
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and staff to problem solve project-related challenges
- Conduct research and analysis to identify operational best practices and potential areas for improvement
- Communicate and collaborate with community members, businesses, and organizations to promote the Fundy Biosphere Region and create a culture of environmental responsibility
- Support event planning related to invasive species management, waste reduction, biodiversity conservation, climate resiliency, regenerative tourism, etc
- Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of projects and initiatives and report on progress to stakeholders
- Oversee overarching operational needs not tied to specific projects (e.g. marketing/branding contracts, website content, strategic plan implementation, volunteer management)
Skill and Qualifications
- University degree in social sciences, pure sciences, business, management, or combination thereof
- 5+ years of experience with non-profit organizations, with experience in project management and operations
- Experience managing teams (staff and/or volunteers)
- Proficient in Google Workspace and Asana (or other project management software)
- Ability to apply operational best practices
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Excellent collaborative/teamwork abilities
- Bilingualism in French and English is an asset
Work term and rate
- Approved budget for this position is $50,000/annually based on a 35h work week and may be adjusted based on the experience of the successful candidate.
- Benefits include 3 weeks vacation plus additional paid time off at Christmas/Year End, self-directed pension contribution and health benefits allowance.
- Typical office hours are 8:30-4pm at 103 Park Street, Moncton. Some travel may be required.
