Ocean Week Canada is a national initiative established by the Canadian Ocean Literacy Coalition (COLC) to support the United Nations Ocean Decade and World Ocean Day on June 8. The initiative aims to highlight the importance of the world’s waterways and how they all flow into the ocean, bringing hundreds of partners together spanning Canada’s three coasts in order to maximize conservation efforts through public education and engagement. 2024 was the inaugural year of ‘Ocean Week Fundy,’ a regional division of Ocean Week Canada hosted jointly by UNESCO-designated Stonehammer Geopark and Fundy Biosphere Region, that highlights this region’s unique coastal environment and history.
